Un inedito di Bob Dylan in “The Bootleg Series Vol. 10”

Bob Dylan come non lo abbiamo mai sentito, Bob Dylan svelato nel suo momento più tormentato. E’ questo che viene proposto da “The Bootleg Series, Vol. 10 – Another Self Portrait (1969-1971)”, il decimo capitolo della serie di bootleg che la Columbia Records ha scelto di pubblicare per i fan più appassionati di Mr. Zimmerman. A partire da martedì 27 Agosto 2013 sarà possibile scegliere nei negozi di dischi tra tre differenti formati, Standard, Deluxe ed un Boxset. Ad essere riscoperti questa volta sono il controverso album “Self Portrait”, aspramente criticato dagli addetti ai lavori in quel del 1970, ed il successivo “New Morning”, ma anche l’intero live che Dylan tenne al Festival dell’Isola di Wight il 31 Agosto del ’69.

Tre i formati disponibili per “The Bootleg Serie, Vol. 10 – Another Self Portrait (1969-1971)”, a partire dallo Standard composto da due CD, il Deluxe formato da quattro dischi (“Self Portrait” senza sovraincisioni e in versione originale rimasterizzata e il live a Wight) ed il cofanetto che vede al suo interno non solo i 35 brani dell’album suddivisi in tre CD e due vinili, ma anche un booklet 12″x12″.

La storia di “Self Portrait” è quanto meno complessa e tortuosa. Al momento della sua registrazione Dylan venne accompagnato da un piccolo ensemble di musicisti, tra i quali spiccano David Bromberg alla chitarra e Al Kooper a tastiere e chitarra, ma in una fase successiva il produttore Bob Johnston decise di sovraincidere le tracce base. Ciò che questo bootleg propone sono proprio le versioni originali che vennero realizzate in studio prima della modifica della produzione.
