Nella notte tra il 14 e il 15 marzo si sono tenuti i Grammy Awards 2021. Quest’anno, per forza di cose, un’edizione diversa dal solito, senza pubblico e senza red carpet. A trionfare su tutti è stata Beyoncè, che ha raggiunto un totale di 28 Grammy, diventando l’artista più premiata in assoluto.
Uno dei premi è andato anche alla figlia, Blue Ivy per il video di “Brown Skin Girl”. I premi più importanti sono tutti al femminile, con “Folklore” di Taylor Swift premiato come miglior album e “Everything I wanted” di Billie Eilish premiato come miglior disco. Si aggiunge “Future Nostalgia” di Dua Lipa come miglior album pop e “Fetch the bolt cutters” di Fiona Apple come miglior album alternativo. Apple è stata premiata anche per la miglior performance rock con “Shameika”.
Come previsto, è stato un anno di enorme importanza per Megan Thee Stallion, premiata come miglior artista emergente e, insieme a Beyoncè, per “Savage” come migliore canzone rap. Ad aprire lo spettacolo è stato Harry Styles con la sua “Watermelon sugar”, premiata nella categoria best pop solo performance. Nel metal trionfano i Bum Rush con “Bodycount” (migliore performance) e The Strokes si sono aggiudicati il premio per il miglior album con “The new abnormal“.
